We are certified EcoVadis Bronze!
We are determined to improve our Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) practices, and we are very proud to announce that we have been awarded the Bronze medal by EcoVadis in our first EcoVadis sustainability assessment. This means we are in the top 35% of our peer group regarding our Social and Eco policy and practice. This recognition underscores our commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices.
It reflects our dedication to environmental management by implementing practices that reduce our environmental impact and promote sustainability. We ensure fair and safe working conditions and uphold human rights within our operations. We maintain high ethical standards and transparency in our business practices, and we promote sustainability throughout our supply chain.
Although we still have a way to go, we are very pleased with this milestone! We will continue to improve and step by step enhance our CSER practices. Read more about our policies below.
Eco policy and initiatives
Balancing people's well-being with the planet's vitality is a key challenge of our time. At Bentley Europe BV, we believe every enterprise has a responsibility to actively address this issue. Our goal is to achieve commercial success while taking care of our impact on people and the planet.
We aim to use more recycled raw materials and minimise harmful packaging, working towards eliminating single-use plastics and using paper tape in our warehouse instead of plastic tape. For shipping, we use beetroot paper and special cardboard filling instead of plastic bubble wrap. We are actively working to move more production to Europe, aiming to minimise our environmental impact and offset any remaining footprint.
In 2021, we partnered with 'Trees for all' to support global reforestation. We planted 750 trees in 2022, 1,000 in 2023, and aim for 1,250 in 2024. Additionally, we offer clients the option to purchase trees, donating these directly to Trees for All.
Social policy and initiatives
We prioritise creating a positive and inclusive work environment with a diverse team. We stimulate the learning and professional development of our staff.
In addition to our internal efforts, we are committed to promoting social policies among our stakeholders, especially our suppliers. We expect them to share our values regarding social responsibility. By fostering close community relationships through internships and career opportunities, we aim to exert a positive influence throughout our business operations.
Externally, we've partnered with the Dutch 'Ronald McDonald Kinderfonds' (Ronald McDonald Child Foundation) since 2022. This foundation operates 13 houses where parents can stay while their children are hospitalised. We contribute by providing essential items like hair dryers, baby cribs, and kettles free of charge to enhance the comfort of parents staying there. Our collaboration includes ongoing initiatives such as team-cooked meals for parents, showcasing our dedication to community engagement.
Stakeholder management
1 The Bentley Team: We prioritise a supportive work environment with fair remuneration, diversity, safety, and personal development. We conduct regular evaluations and provide training opportunities. We support a hybrid way of working, enabling our team members to create the right work-life balance. A designated confidant is available for team members needing assistance. This year, we launched the Bentley Europe vitality year, organizing monthly workshops, activities, or training sessions to support our team members' vitality.
2 Suppliers – Supply Chain: We source products globally but are in the process of shifting production closer to home. Each year, we introduce eco-friendly items and assess suppliers through factory audits and performance evaluations. We emphasize social responsibility and require BSCI membership and audits for our top suppliers. Our Quality Control (QC) manager ensures all products meet required certifications and conducts inspections before shipment to maintain high standards.
3 Customers: With over 3,000 clients globally, customer satisfaction is paramount. We conduct annual surveys to improve service quality and integrate client feedback into our Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSER) initiatives. Clients can support biodiversity through our partnership with Trees for All by donating a tree with every order they place.
